The use of IV-optimality criterion is limited by a lack of available computer code and difficulties in coding because of the integration required over the specified design region. A method is presented here for computing the IV-optimality criterion for selected response surface designs. The pseudo-code for the computer program is also given. The study investigates both spherical and cuboidal regions of interest, and an analytical approach is outlined for computing the IV-optimality criterion for second-order split-plot designs. Some comparisons of second-order response surface designs are shown for completely randomized designs and split-plot designs.
