    This paper is the translation of the Introduction to the new edition of Bonny Norton Identity and Language Learning (2000, 2013), which is considered as a turning point of the Anglo-Saxon research in second language acquisition. At the beginning, translators place the author’s thought in the American poststructuralism specific context, and they discuss some issues raised by the circulation of thoughts between different scientific traditions.

    Ce texte est la traduction de l’Introduction à la nouvelle édition de l’ouvrage de Bonny Norton, Identity and Language Learning (2000, 2013), considéré comme un tournant dans la recherche anglo-saxonne en acquisition des langues. En préambule, les traductrices situent la pensée de l’auteure dans le contexte spécifique du poststructuralisme nord-américain et discutent de quelques enjeux soulevés par la circulation des idées entre différentes traditions scientifiques.
