Resumen de Measurement System Analysis for Binary Inspection: Continuous Versus Dichotomous Measurands

Jeroen De Mast, Tashi P. Erdmann, Wessel N. Van Wieringen

  • Two factors are particularly relevant when determining what method to use to assess the reliability of binary measurements: whether there is a definable gold standard and whether the measurand is dichotomous or continuous. While continous measurands are commonly dichotomized, this introduces complications that can skew results. A number of binary inspection methods are presented and applied to an example from the automotive industry.
