    Las últimas convocatorias de Proyectos de Innovación Educativa, y los programas de Evaluación de la Actividad Docente de varias universidades españolas, están fomentado la formación de grupos de investigación que trabajen en desarrollar proyectos de innovación docente y que ejerzan una función de liderazgo nacional o europeo en esta área. A nivel internacional, la investigación en docencia universitaria aborda enfoques de trabajo centrados en el estudiante y, más concretamente, en la manera en la que pueden afrontar el reto de la participación, la motivación y su implicación con la universidad. Este fenómeno es un movimiento internacional conocido como el �Student Engagement�, y que aún es incipiente en el panorama universitario español. Sin embargo, también en este contexto hay cada vez más conciencia de su importancia en el éxito en los resultados de aprendizaje de los estudiantes y en las valoraciones de los centros universitarios.

    Como aportación principal, se analizan los contenidos de las comunicaciones presentadas a los congresos IATED en los últimos 5 años, a modo de estado de la cuestión de este tema en los principales congresos de referencia en innovación docente con repercusión nacional e internacional.

    The latest calls for Educational Innovation Projects and programmes Evaluation of the Educational Activity of several Spanish universities, are encouraging the formation of research groups in educational innovation to work and exercising a function of national or European leadership in research in this subject.

    Internationally, research in scholarship in teaching and learning in higher education is focused on the student and, more specifically, on how they can meet the challenge of participation, motivation and their engagement. This phenomenon is set within a worldwide movement with deep international implications, the so called Student Engagement, which is still latent on the Spanish university panorama. However, in this context there is growing awareness of its importance in the successful outcomes of student learning and the assessments of university centers.

    The main contribution of this work consists of analysis of the content of papers given at IATED congresses in the last five years. These can be considered as the current state of the issue or the evolution of the topic at the leading congresses on education innovation which has had an impact in the national and international scene.
