    This comparative study between the novel Sob céus estranhos (1962) by Ilse Losa and the short story « The prayer » from the collection Immigrant Tales (1956) by Samuel Rawer deals with the image of the refugee in Portugal and in Brazil within the context of the Second World War, pondering over the role performed by these countries as welcoming lands, as well as their socio-political and economical organization in the years 40’s – 50’s.

    Este estudo comparativo entre o romance Sob céus estranhos (1962) de Ilse Losa e o conto “A Prece” da coletânea Contos do imigrante (1956) de Samuel Rawet trata da imagem do refugiado em Portugal e no Brasil, no contexto da Segunda Guerra Mundial, suscitando uma reflexão sobre o papel desses países como terra de asilo, bem como sobre sua organização sócio-político­-econômica nos anos 40-50.
