This paper attempts to give a sense to the New School movement from defining it as a singular movement, yet complex. This complexity will be the basis to understand that the New School didn�t come from a philosophical concreteness and a unique practice, but from a network of diverse schools that joined it. Schools that used the methodology of the New School in their classrooms, but that they defined themselves differently: open air schools, écoles-foyers, boarding schools, orphanages, etc... In addition to this heterogeneity, we must also bear in mind the connection between schools, teachers and institutions that propagated a current of European exchange. To view this entire ensemble, those schools linked to that movement have been set and located on a map, at European level.
El present treball pretén donar sentit al moviment d�Escola Nova a partir de definir-lo com un moviment singular, però a la vegada complex. Aquesta complexitat serà la base per entendre que l�Escola Nova no partia d�una concreció filosòfica i pràctica única, sinó que les escoles que s�hi van adherir eren part d�un entramat d�escoles molt diverses. Unes escoles que utilitzaven en les seves aules metodologies pròpies de l�Escola Nova però que es definien de diferent manera: escoles a l�aire lliure, écoles-foyers, internats, orfenats, etc.
A més d�aquesta heterogeneïtat, també cal tenir present la connexió existent entre escoles, mestres i institucions que propagaven un cert corrent europeu d�intercanvi. Per visualitzar tot aquest conjunt s�ha partit de localitzar i situar les escoles vinculades al moviment en un mapa a escala europea.
