School yearbooks, authentic almanacs of details, activities and photographs, have been traditionally used as instruments to build identities, to transmit a specific image of the school, and to record the most outstanding and distinctive aspects of the educational centre in question. How these yearbooks are prepared and built, what image of the school is transmitted through them, and what use is made of photography within their pages are some of the questions posed when analysing a yearbook. From the study of two specific yearbooks published during the time of the Franco Dictatorship San Francisco and Colegio Beato Ramón Llull we aim, with this paper, to address the analysis of yearbooks and the use of photography therein as an instrument for the construction of school memory.
