Funciones ejecutivas en mujeres bisexuales

    Las funciones ejecutivas permiten adaptarnos y responder al entorno, se localizan anatómicamente en la Corteza Prefrontal, cuyas funciones son la fluidez verbal, procesamiento matemático y memoria de trabajo, donde se describen diferencias entre sexos y orientaciones sexuales. La bisexualidad, que ha sido definida como una atracción por ambos sexos, no necesariamente en la misma medida, ha sido poco estudiada debido a que muchas veces no es considerada como una orientación sexual real. Se evaluó a 17 mujeres bisexuales con una batería de funciones ejecutivas, comparándolas con 20 hombres heterosexuales y 20 mujeres heterosexuales analizando diferencias significativas (p<0.05) entre los grupos. Resultaron diferencias significativas entre hombres y mujeres bisexuales en Stroop, señalamiento autodirigido, clasificación de cartas. Se concluye que las mujeres bisexuales de esta muestra se desempeñan de manera diferenciada en algunas funciones a los hombres heterosexuales y estas diferencias se ven influenciadas por la orientación sexual.

    Executive functions allow us to adapt and respond to the environment. They are anatomically located in the Prefrontal Cortex, whose functions are verbal fluency, mathematical processing and working memory, where differences between genders and sexual orientations have been described. Bisexuality, which has been defined as an attraction to both genders, although not necessarily to the same extent, has been little studied because it is rarely considered a true sexual orientation.

    17 bisexual women were assessed using an executive functions battery of tests and they were compared to 20 heterosexual men and 20 heterosexual women. Significant differences (p <0.05) between groups were evaluated. Results showed significant differences between men and bisexual women in the Stroop, self-marking and card sorting tests. In conclusion bisexual women in this sample perform in a different way with respect to heterosexual men, and these differences are influenced by sexual orientation.
