Silio Itálico: un poeta épico para conocer, estudiar y disfrutar en el s. XXI

    El objetivo de este artículo es mostrar a Silio Itálico, en una línea innovadora dentro del mundo de la Filología actual, mediante la cual debemos poner sobre la mesa los antecedentes sobre la vida de este autor latino del s. I d. C. y, especialmente sobre su obra,un poema épico denominado Punica, junto con sus ediciones, comentarios, tra- ducciones, sus fuentes literarias de inspiración y, por supuesto, las principales inves- tigaciones que conocemos.

    Por ello, el propósito es dar respuesta a esa declaración de intenciones que va implíci- ta en el título, y que no puede ser otra que, lograr llamar la atención sobre el autor y su obra para que, una vez conocidos algunos aspectos interesantes sobre ambos, pue- dan ser objeto de estudio en cualquiera de las enseñanzas del actual sistema educati- vo, tanto en las etapas de Secundaria como en las Enseñanzas Superiores Universita- rias y, al mismo tiempo, puedan ser disfrutados por los propios estudiantes, profeso- res, investigadores y cualquier aficionado a las Humanidades en general, al mundo clásico en particular y a la literatura latina en especial.

    The objective of this article is to show Silius Italicus in an innovative line of current Philology, through which we must put on the table the background and life of this Latin author in the first century a. C., and very specially his work, an epic poem called Punica, with the references to its editions, reviews, translations and, of course the principal acknowledged research.

    So, the purpose is to answer to a statement of intentions that it is into the title, and that could not be other than to draw attention on the author and his work so that, once having looked into some of the interesting aspects of both, may be object of study in any of the teachings of the current education system, at secondary and uni- versity higher education level and, at the same time, be enjoyed by students, profes- sors, researchers and all lovers of humanities in general, particularly by the classical world, and especially by Latin literature.
