Aínda que os álbumes ilustrados se encontran nas orixes da literatura infantil e xuvenil galega, non foi até 1998 que este tipo de libros recibe un impulso en termos cuantitativos e cualitativos. Co tempo a produción estase a diversificar e xa atopamos os diferentes tipos de álbumes presentes en literaturas veciñas. Neste traballo faise un repaso á súa tipoloxía, presentando exemplos que, nalgúns casos, teñen que ser forzosamente de álbumes traducidos doutras linguas.

Picture books can be found at the beginnings of Galician children�s literature, and in 1998 they were promoted in qualitative and quantitative terms. Since then picture books production has been diversifying and we can already find different kinds of such books present in surrounding literatures in Spain. In this work, their tipology is reviewed, using examples of every kind of picture books in Galician language. For some cases, no picture book originally produced in Galician can be found, so translations are the only ones available.
