    La presente exposición se ocupa del suministro de la leña en Madrid en los meses inmediatamente anteriores y posteriores al traslado de la Corte a la Villa en 1561, que supuso una drástica modificación en los modos de explotación de los montes. La venta de la leña se convirtió inmediatamente en una de las principales fuentes de ingresos municipales, lo que llevó a la aparición de considerables medidas de control, al tiempo que se evidenciaron las dificultades para atender la creciente demanda y surgió la picaresca. Unos años después, la Corona decidiría intervenir directamente en el control de este y otros asuntos municipales.

    The present exhibition deals with the supply of the fuelwood in Madrid in the months immediately previous and later to the movement of the Court to the Villa in 1561, which supposed a drastic modification in the manners of exploitation of the mounts.

    The sale of the fuelwood turned immediately into one of the principal municipal sources of income, which led to the appearance of considerable measures of control, at the time that the difficulties were demonstrated to attend to the increasing demand and the guile appeared. A few years later, the Crown would decide to intervene directly in the control of this one and other municipal matters.
