Las prácticas artísticas de los pintores "hispanoflamencos" en la Corona de Castilla en el siglo XV

    En el siglo XV, la pintura de la Corona de Castilla se vio profundamente influida por la que se estaba realizando en Flandes, hasta el punto que la historiografía del arte española la denominó pintura "hispanoflamenca". El estudio de los procedimientos y materiales empleados por carpinteros, doradores y pintores en la Castilla de ese momento ha revelado aspectos característicos y exclusivos relacionados, sobre todo con la elección de la madera, la construcción del soporte y el posterior aparejado. Los pintores "hispanoflamencos" incorporan en este periodo también la técnica al óleo, aunque manifiestan todavía problemas técnicos que los artistas del norte de Europa ya habían superado, alcanzando en el siglo XV un nivel de maestría excepcional.

    In the fifteenth century, paintings in the Kingdom of Castile, was profoundly influenced by Flemish art of the time, to the degree that Spanish art historians referred to it as "Hispano-Flemish" painting. Study of the procedures and materials employed by carpenters, gilders and painters has revealed aspects that are characteristic and unique to Castilian painting and which are related above all to the choice of wood, construction of the support and mode of assembly. "Hispano-Flemish" painters started to make use of oil at this time and while still revealing technical problems already overcome by northern European artists, achieved an exceptional level of mastery in the fifteenth century.
