Los relictos de la linea militar de la Frontera Sur: La Comandancia de Achiras y problemas de arqueología histórica

    Throughout the once Military Line of the Southern Frontier of Argentina there can be found remains of forts, fortalices, post houses and quarters. Our work presents one of them: the Comandancia of the Achiras Fort in the south of the province of Córdoba. From a Historical Archaeological point of view those vestiges represent the process by which the modern country arose since those landmarks expressed the final division (land expropriation) for the settlers (indigens and impoverished mestizoes at the Desert and the Frontier) regarding the former untitled ownership of the places and watering spots of the Pampas. As a result of the consolidation of the military line and the defeat of the indigens, the impoverished peasants had to move around owned lands. This development of events and the traces of buildings, stratigraphies and material culture present epistemological consequences.

    En distintos lugares de la que fuera la Línea militar de la Frontera Sur en la Argentina existen relictos de sus fuertes, fortines, postas y cantones. Nuestro trabajo expone uno de ellos: la Comandancia del Fuerte Achiras, en la Provincia de Córdoba. En la perspectiva de la arqueología histórica esos vestigios representan el proceso por el cual surgió el país moderno ya que esas marcas territoriales expresaban la separación definitiva- la expropiación del territorio- de los pobladores (indígenas y mestizos pobres, en el Desierto y en la Frontera) respecto de la posesión intitulada de los parajes y aguadas de la pampa: cuando se levantó la Línea y se triunfó sobre los indios, los campesinos pobres tuvieron que circular por campos que ahora tenían propietarios. Este desarrollo de los acontecimientos y sus huellas de construcciones, estratigrafías y cultura material tiene consecuencias epistemológicas.
