This paper will focus on the ongoing transformation of Georgian musical art under the influence of globalization. In particular, it will examine popular music and folk music in the cultural context of both traditional and innovative music. Musical culture as it is dealt with in this paper consists of folk, classic and modern music. Modern music depends on a connection with past musical cultures, as it builds on the foundation of the musical traditions that preceded it. The 21st century is characterized by new tendencies and styles, and the field of music is no exception. Modern musical culture represents a mixture of different tendencies, thoughts and worldviews, and globalization is a key factor in their development and dissemination. In the modern epoch, this topic is very significant. Researchers take contradictory stances as a result of different perceptions of and attitudes towards the process of globalization. In contemporary culture, one very important issue is determining and defining the influence of globalization on the cultural sphere. Is this influence destructive to national identity and values? How does globalization reflect on modern musical culture? From this angle this report will analyze the synthesis of traditional Georgian folklore and different musical trends in jazz, rock and pop music. The analysis of globalization in 20th century musical culture requires complex consideration. This will be expressed in the study of modern musical tendencies and their structural analysis. From this perspective, Georgian traditional culture, which undergoes certain changes in the post-modern epoch, is very interesting. We consider the combinations of folk and jazz elements and the formation of entirely new folk-jazz to be representative of one such change. We would also like to mention that the aesthetics of Georgian folk-jazz is built upon the search for enrichment of the musicaltechnical side through the combination of folk, jazz and world music.
Georgian popular music is analogous with existing musical tendencies in Western pop-culture. It is important to note that in popular music there can be found the transformation of folk music, which is used in its entirety and in the form of citation, giving a specific musical touch to the composition.
