La comunicación entre España y los países bálticos a través de la prensa escrita española

    El artículo presenta un estudio sobre la construcción informativa en la prensa española de las relaciones bilaterales entre los estados bálticos y España desde la perspectiva de la comunicación intercultural. El objetivo es comprender la imagen que los medios españoles presentan de estos países en el contexto de convergencia europea. Para ello se ha realizado un análisis de contenido del corpus de noticias del El País y La Razón durante el periodo de mayo de 2004 a octubre 2008, con el fin de identificar cuáles son las temáticas tratadas, los enfoques seguidos, y el criterio de noticiabilidad subyacente en la información publicada sobre Estonia, Lituania y Letonia. Entre los principales resultados, cabe destacar la subrepresentación de los países bálticos, el carácter positivo del tratamiento, la predominancia de temas deportivos y socioculturales sobre económicos o políticos.

    The article presents a study on the construction of information in the Spanish written press of the bilateral relations, from the intercultural communication ́s standpoint, between the Baltic States and Spain.The main aim is to understand the image that the Spanish media presents on these countries in the context of European convergence. For this, we have carried out a content analysis of news of two newspapers, El Paísand La Razón, during the study period May 2004 to October 2008, in order to identifywhich are the addressed topics, the used approaches and the criteria of underlying noticeability on the published information about Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Among the main results, it should be noted theunderrepresentation of the Baltic countries, the positive nature of treatment, and the predominance of thesports and socioculture issues over the economic and political matters.
