    En la actualidad, nadie pone en duda el papel de las comunidades autónomas en la gestión de las emergencias, así como su condición de sujeto activo en el Sistema de Protección Civil. Y aún más importante, sobre ellas recae una gran responsabilidad y aportan un número muy significativo de recursos. Sin duda, los avances en este campo en los últimos años han sido muy impor-tantes. Aun así, debemos buscar mecanismos que incrementen la colabo-ración entre todos y que posibiliten el intercambio de experiencias, tanto de las comunidades autónomas entre sí, como entre estas y los entes locales, principalmente con los ayuntamientos y con la Administración del Estado.Los autores del capítulo (directores generales de esta materia en dos comunidades) tratan de explicar cuál es el papel de las comunidades au-tónomas españolas en la gestión de emergencias, y como estas se coor-dinan con el Estado. Además, hacen una reflexión sobre cuál podría ser el futuro de esta materia para mejorar la seguridad de todos los españoles,

    Nowadays, no one doubts the role of Autonomous Communities in the management of emergencies, as well as its status as an active subject in the Civil Protection System. And even more importantly, they bear a great responsibility and provide a significant number of resources. Wi-thout doubt, advances in this field in recent years have been very impor-tant, but we should seek ways to increase collaboration among all and to enable the exchange of experiences, between the Autonomous Regions, and between them and local authorities, mainly with the municipalities and the state administration.The authors of the chapter (General Directors of this matter in two Au-tonomous Communities)) try to explain what the role of the Spanish Au-tonomous Communities in emergency management, and how they are coordinated with the state. In addition, they reflect on what could be the future of this area to improve the safety of all Spanish.
