"Soprattutto" tra avverbio focalizzante e congiunzione testuale

• Resumen

  • On the basis of the description of "soprattutto" offered in two monolingual dictionaries of the Italian language (in "Il Sabatini-Coletti" 2003 and in De Mauro's GRADIT 2000), this paper will demonstrate that soprattutto can be used either as a focus particle or as a textual conjunction. Specifically, I will demonstrate that these two usages of the word have different syntactic, semantic and prosodie properties. In light of this analysis, I will then return to the lexicographic description of the two usages of the word and evaluate their appropriateness
