  • Resumen
    • The dictionaries are considered as references in the rules of certain French linguistic games. That is why players see them as referees. This way of using dictionaries appears totally aberrant considering they are aimed at describing the language, whereas being referees they eventually act as prescribers. We interviewed players, who are also fine experts of the dictionaries, and we observed that their linguistic universe and feelings were warped by the game. For example, a word which is not in the dictionary is regarded as a word that does not exist. We will describe these disturbances, and discuss solutions so as to correct them.
