  • Resumen
    • The aim of this paper is to summarize some preliminary phases of the realization of a dialectal dictionary and, in particular, the aspects related to the choice of spelling conventions. The dialect here described belongs to a transition area between the piedmontese and the lombard linguistic regions and is the one spoken in some sites of the middle valley (Valgrande) of the river Sesia (comunità montana di Campertogno, Mollia e Rassa, in the province of Vercelli). The phonetic properties of these dialects are already well-known thanks to several contributions from local authors and more extensive dialectological works. They have been carefully considered in the framework of a recent lexicographic research (in Molino & Romano, forthcoming) where we opted for paying a better attention to the aspects concerning pronunciation, relations with traditional transcription systems and the choice of suitable criteria of phonetic notation.
