  • Resumen
    • Nowadays there is an increasing request for electronic dictionaries rather than for their paper counterparts. Dictionaries which allow free navigation within the entire lexicon and, if bilingual, from one language to the other. Bilingualized dictionaries, in particular, are now considered important for second language learning, but the most of them have nowadays only a paper version while there is a need for modern electronic versions with a larger macrostructure. The possibility of navigation would allow explanation in the source language to be more sophisticated and not given only by the most frequent words. A possible example of how such an electronic dictionary could be created is now delivered by the new Great Electronic Bilingual Dictionary Italian-Dutch/Dutch-Italian. It is the result of a 25 years project and the extraction of a databank build up and stored on a relational database. It contains a great amount of examples and collocations, allows the navigation between all words of the two languages, contains also a description of the entries in the source language, and allows personalization and lexical extension.
