Resumen de Polysémie nominale, discours, motifs lexicaux

Pierre Cadiot

  • English

Starting from an overview of traditional approaches to polysemy, this paper offers yet another approach which uses morphemic terms, elaborated with the help of a generic polysemy which can be made clear by key-collocates, several of which are here analysed in detail. Challenging a literal/figurative meaning partition which sets in a clear-cut distribution of tasks between lexis and grammar, the theory of patterns (motifs) advocates another analysis method which enables to account for uses which are traditionally awkward to tackle by semantics and which will be reassessed in our chosen framework, all this thanks to the use of extrinsic properties.
