    El objetivo de este artículo es doble. Por un lado, busca contribuir a llenar ese hueco entre formación y práctica y, por otro lado, pretende profundizar en las relaciones entre dos áreas bien definidas: humanidades y ciencias médicas, y, más específicamente, entre los estudios sobre comunicación intercultural y la atención sanitaria a población extranjera. El modo en que cumplir dicho objetivo consiste en analizar las características y resultados de estudios sobre aspectos sanitarios llevados a cabo por futuros especialistas de la comunicación en el marco del Máster Universitario Europeo en Comunicación Intercultural, Interpretación y Traducción en los Servicios Públicos. Dicho máster se ofrece en nueve especialidades o combinaciones lingüísticas en la Universidad de Alcalá (UAH), Madrid, desde el año 2006. En esta ocasión me centraré en la investigación que directa o indirectamente se relaciona con el ámbito sanitario. Para ello, ofreceré, en primer lugar, una breve introducción sobre las características de esta investigación y sus autores para pasar a una primera clasificación de los resultados y su análisis, seguido de unas conclusiones.

    This article has two purposes. On one hand, it seeks to help fill the gap between training and practice, and on the other, it will take an in-depth look at the relationship between two well-defined areas: humanities and medical sciences. More specifically, it will examine studies on intercultural communication and healthcare for foreign populations. To do this, it will analyze the characteristics and results of studies on aspects of healthcare carried out by future communication specialists studying for the Master´s Degree in Intercultural Communication, Public Service Interpreting and Translation. This Master�s Degree has been offered in nine specialties or language pairs at the Universidad de Alcalá (UAH), Madrid, since 2006. I will focus here on research that is either directly or indirectly related to the field of healthcare. I will first briefly introduce the characteristics of this research and its authors, follow with a preliminary classification and analysis of the results, and outline some conclusions.
