    Este artículo se acerca a la obra de algunos de los creadores gallegos nacidos y formados en el pasado siglo, de diferentes estilos o temáticas, que coinciden en sus creaciones al necesitar de una serie de elementos alegóricos, metáforas, o símbolos que dejan patente la dependencia que el arte del siglo XX sigue teniendo de la literatura emblemática, la alegoría o el símbolo.

    Con las piezas analizadas queda patente que la combinación que forman pintura /emblemática no es algo que se restringe en el tiempo y que en las imágenes figurativas del siglo XX, la máxima �una imagen vale más que mil palabras�, no siempre se cumple.

    This article is about the work of some of the Galician artists in the past century, which overlap in their creations to need a series of allegorical elements, metaphors, or symbols that demonstrate the dependence the twentieth century art remains emblematic literature, allegory or symbol.

    With analyzed examples is clear that their combination paint / emblem is not something that is restricted in time and in the figurative images of the twentieth century, the maxim "a picture is worth a thousand words" is not always true.
