    A Ilha do Mel representa a realidade de alguns destinos turísticos insulares litorâneos brasileiros, com especificidades que vão desde os aspectos da imagem de um destino alternativo até a fragilidade social e ambiental próprias destes locais. Possui particularidades ímpares (ausência de automóveis e predomínio de pequenas pousadas) desde a evolução da exploração turística que já lhe confere quase quatro décadas.O objetivo deste artigo é analisar as condiçoes de infraestrutura e serviços restultantes do processo de turistificação da vila de Encantadas na Ilha do Mel (Brasil), como forma de elucidar os descompassos na estruturação do destino.O trabalho foi realizado através pesquisa bibliografica e documental, além de pesquisa de campo baseada em entrevistas com atores sociais membros da instância de governança local.Como principais resultados, se pode destacar pontos críticos em relação às condições infraestruturais e de serviços tanto para o turismo como para a sociedade. Tal descompasso possibilita constatar que o quadro de esgotamento do destino atingiu seu ápice por volta de 2006, consequência do padrão desregulado de turistificação queocorreu em meados dos anos 1990 e fim de século.

    The isle of Mel represents the reality of some insular touristic destinations in the Brazilian coasts, with very special peculiarities raging from the image of an alternative destination to the fragility of social and environmental issues. It has different characteristics, (lack of automobiles and the predominance of small inns), that began since the touristic exploration almost four decades ago. The purpose of the present article is to analyze the conditions of the infrastructure and the services as a result of the process of touristification in Villa Encantada in the isle of Mel (Brazil), as a way to understand the effects on the conformation of such destination. This project was carried out through bibliographical and documental investigation. In addition, a field investigation was conducted based on interviews with the social actors which were members of the local government. From the main results, some specific aspects are of particular interest in relation with the conditions of the infrastructure and the services for both the tourism and the society. Such disparity testifies that the collapse of the touristic destination reached its maximum point between 2006 as a consequence of an irregular touristification that happened in the middle of 1990 and at the end of century.
