    Este artículo aborda la cuestión de la dimensión cultural del texto jurídico desde una perspectiva traductora. Esta dimensión genera el siguiente problema:

    ¿qué ocurre cuando un determinado sistema jurídico emplea, para expresarse, una lengua perteneciente a una cultura ajena a él? Para ejemplificar esta situación, se analiza el sistema jurídico musulmán, notablemente distinto de los grandes sistemas occidentales (romano-germánico y anglosajón), y se tratan los problemas que dicho ordenamiento provoca a la hora de efectuar traducciones, así como las posibles actuaciones o soluciones que el traductor debe tener presentes.

    This article addresses the issue of the cultural dimension of legal text from a translator�s perspective. This dimension generates the following problem: What happens when a given legal system uses to put across its views a language belonging to a culture unrelated to the legal system? To illustrate this situation, the Muslim legal system is examined, which is noticeably different from the substantial Western systems (i.e. the Romano-Germanic and Anglo-Saxon legal systems), and the problems that that legal system causes when translating are addressed as well as possible actions or solutions that the translator must consider.
