Cultura de la guerra y contemporaneidad: ¿la "purificación étnica" es una práctica "de otros tiempos"?

    Este artículo se refiere a la extrema violencia política cometida contra poblaciones civiles, específicamente durante la guerra en exYugoslavia1. En él se analiza la negación que en el extranjero acompañó a esos crímenes, sin embargo conocidos, lo que implica asir la cuestión de la subjetividad desde un punto de vista de las ciencias sociales en el que se supondría que quizás hubiese una amplia subjetividad colectiva que no podría reducirse al simple asunto de la opinión. La experiencia de esta guerra, en todo caso, obliga a plantearse la pregunta por la contemporaneidad de prácticas que podrían considerarse de otros tiempos.

    This article refers to the extreme political violence committed against civil populations, specifically during the war in ex-Yugoslavia. It analyzes the negation of these crimes that went along in the international arena, however well they may have been known, which implies taking on the question of subjectivity from the point of view of the social sciences where it would be supposed that perhaps there is a wide collective subjectivity that cannot be reduced to the simple concept of opinion. The experience of this war, in any case, forces the question of the contemporaneous character of practices that tend to be thought to belong to other times.
