    En nuestro artículo nos hemos basado en la obra del dramaturgo expresionista alemán Carl Sternheim, Las bragas, para analizar los diferentes problemas traslativos que presenta la traducción teatral: registro oral, representatividad del texto en el escenario, modernización o no del lenguaje, entre otros. Esta obra, recientemente traducida al español, es su drama más importante, el más conocido, y también el más sorprendente, tanto desde el punto de vista lingüístico y teatral como temático-moral, y también, por ello, uno de los que más retos plantea para su traducción

    The aim of this paper is to analyze the main problems raised by translation of theatre: oral record, representation of the text on stage, modernization or not of language, etc. We will focus on our Spanish translation of Carl Sternheim's, Die Hose, his best known play and also the most difficult to translate because its linguistic nature. We present the main translation problems the text raises as well as our strategies to solve them in order to show these as an interesting didactic tool. We intend to focus also on the issue of footnotes as explanation of a concrete translation.
