Hablar del fin de siglo austríaco y del autor vienés Arthur Schnitzler supone la implicación de dos conceptos que van de la mano. Esta relación mutua ha dado lugar, durante la segunda mitad del siglo XX, a una abundante literatura sobre este binomio cultural. Schnitzler es actualmente uno de los autores más importantes tanto de los estudios germánicos como de la crítica literaria. Sin embargo, la recepción de Arthur Schnitzler sufrió desde siempre un considerable desfase en España, que, frente a otros países, tardó en recibir su obra dramática desde el punto de vista de la traducción y la escenificación.

To speak about the Austrian fin-de-siècle and about the Viennese author Arthur Schnitzler supposes the implication of two concepts that go hand in hand. This mutual relation gave rise during the second half of the 19th century to a plentiful literature about this cultural binomial. Schnitzler is nowadays one of the most important authors as many in German Studies as in Literary Criticism point out. However, Arthur Schnitzler´s reception suffered since always a considerable gap in Spain, where, opposite to other countries, it was slow in receiving his drama from the point of view of the translation and the dramatization.
