El texto ofrece una breve reseña histórica del pensamiento traductológico checo, con énfasis en el período clásico de la Escuela Lingüística de Praga como fuente metodológica de las investigaciones posteriores. A partir de los estudios sobre traducciones de los textos de los libretos, publicados en la revista Slovo a slovesnost en los años treinta del siglo pasado, llega a la concepción de la génesis y recepción del texto traducido como fuente para definir las mismas características del texto literario. Por otra parte, el estudio de las relaciones entre el teatro y la traducción permite esclarecer varios conceptos del arte de traducir (traducción como proceso de decisiones, norma estética, tradición traductora, patrón).

Abrief survey of the Czech thinking on translation during the classical period of the Prague Linguistic School that served as the methodological launchpad for subsequent research is followed by the analysis of translated stage scripts published in the Czech Slovo a slovesnost journal in the 1930s. The author suggests that the genesis and reception of translations may be used as a source concept for inquiries into the genesis and reception of literary texts. The analysis of interrelationships between the stage script and its translation may, on the other hand, cast light on a number of translational concepts (e.g. the application of aesthetic norm, translation tradition, source text).
