  • Resumen
    • Language is a system of expression and communication that is common to a specific group or linguistic community. Within a language, economists form a community characterised by their specific use of the language, in other words, a specific terminology and vocabulary giving rise to specialised discourse. Four categories of economic texts are identifiable: descriptive, narrative, explicative and teleological. These four categories of text are often found in a single document dealing with economy. Yet, one category dominates the others: the narrative text. This category of text, as it relates to economics, is the object of the present article. To study a concrete case of economic policy, it is necessary to also study the verb tenses of the analysis. In fact, quite a variety of economic analyses are constructed from very different narrative models and with distinct verb tenses and moods. This study addresses, first, the significance of economic context in order to demonstrate the need to consider the temporal nature of economic narration. Then, in a summary fashion, the article deals with certain considerations of the verbal system and verbal aspect. To conclude, the article looks at economic approaches that explain the behaviour of subjects and economic questions in reference to time.
