    We begin some studies related to the Basque commercial geography from the end of the Middle Ages to the Modern Period. That is, we try to study in depth the geopolitical and mercantile relationships of the Basques (not only of the merchants of Guipúzcoa, Alava and Vizcaya) with the maritime kingdoms and sovereignties. In this first article I present a chart with the commercial institutions that controlled the overseas transport and trade. Then in the second article I will study the legal and social change that the Basques needed to make, while they adapted to the new geopolitical circumstances, in order to change a country from a forming economy to a transport and commercial power. In this first article there is also a wide bibliography that is accurately elaborated in each of the following articles. In the following articles I describe the political and economic relationships that as a basis of commercial exchange the Basque had with some maritime states and sovereignties: England, Brittany, Normandy, France, Portugal etc.

    En este artículo estudio principalmente la historia de los puertos normandos que comerciaron con los vascos a lo largo del final de la Edad Media y el comienzo de la edad moderna. Estudio, por lo tanto, los puertos normados y los productos intercambiados en el tráfico mercantil. Los puertos estudiados son: Rouen, Le Havre, Harfleur, Honfleur, Dieppe, Cherburgo, Saint Vaast-La-Hongue, Fécamp y Caen.

    Euskal merkatal geografiarekin erlazionaturik dauden ikasketa batzuekin hastan gara, hain zuen Erdi Aroaren bukaeratik Aro Berrira doazenak. Hau da, euskaldunek (eta ez bakarik Gipuzkoa, Araba eta Bizkaiako merkatariek) itsas-erreinu eta subiranotasunekin zituzten erlazio geopolitiko eta merkataletan sakontzen saiatu gara. Lehenengo artikulu honetan itsasoz handiko garraio eta merkataritza zuzentzen zuen markatal erakundeen taula bat aurkezten dut. Ondoren, bigarren artikuluan, euskaldunek egoera geopolitiko berrietara egokitzean, herri bat lurganadutza ekonomiatik garrio eta merkatal potentziara aldatzeko egin behar izan zuten aldaketa juridiko eta soziala aztertzen dut. Lehenengo artikulu honetan ere, bibliografia zabal bat agertzen da, artikulu bakoitzean gero banaka zabaltzen dena. Ondoren, hurrengo artikuluetan euskaldunek merkatal trukeak oinarri direla, Inglaterra, Bretania, Frantzia, Normandia eta Portugaleko estatu eta subiranotasunekin izan zituzten erlazio politiko eta ekonomikoak azalduko ditut.
