This paper aims to explore a new modality of interpreting that is slowly making its way into Spain: telephone interpreting. More specifically, we intend to study the use of this modality of interpreting that is spreading in the health services of our Autonomous Community. In a evolving market and in the context of the new university degrees on Translation and Interpreting, which forces lecturers to redesign their work, the knowledge of the professional reality turns up to be crucial to sustain the basis of what is taught and to prepare the future interpreters who are today in our classrooms.
