This paper is a commentary to the article by Dr. Rodrigo on the convenience of incorporating data from Neuroscience to the effort of understanding age-related changes in cognition. In my opinion, the encounter of the fields of Developmental Psychology and Neuroscience that has strengthened in the last years is extremely positive. The argumentation for my positioning is twofold. On the one hand, I consider that measures of brain function constitute a dependent variable of special interest when it comes to understanding psychological processes and their development across the life span. On the other hand, I believe that the assessment of data from multiple levels of analysis provides a more robust scientific test for any kind of theory including those of human development.

Este escrito es un comentario al artículo publicado por la Dra. Rodrigo en este mismo volumen sobre la conveniencia de incorporar datos de la Neurociencia al esfuerzo por entender cambios evolutivos a nivel cognitivo. En mi opinión, el encuentro que se ha visto reforzado en los últimos años entre la Psicología del Desarrollo y la Neurociencia es extremadamente positivo. Mi postura se basa principalmente en dos argumentos. Por un lado, creo que las medidas de funcionamiento cerebral constituyen una variable dependiente de especial interés para la comprensión de procesos psicológicos y su desarrollo a lo largo de la vida. Por otro lado, considero que la toma de datos procedentes de múltiples niveles de análisis proporciona una prueba más robusta para cualquier tipo de teoría científica, incluidas las teorías sobre el desarrollo de las capacidades humanas.
