  La banca minorista en Europa tiene grados de desarrollo muy diferentes entre los distintos miembros de la Unión Europea, especialmente distinguiendo su estudio entre la Unión Europea de los 15 miembros y los 12 países que conforman las dos últimas ampliaciones de la Unión. Este trabajo expone las principales diferencias entre bloques y países en el número de entidades, número de sucursales, número de sucursales por habitante, número y valor de las transacciones en términos reales y per cápita, y el valor de las transacciones en términos de riqueza en el año 2006. En el análisis se resalta la importancia de este sector entre los Antiguos Miembros, destacando los mercado inglés, alemán y francés en la banca minorista europea.

  The retail banking sector in Europe has different levels of development among each member of the European Union, specially distinguishing its analysis between the European Union of the fifteen first members and the twelve countries that perform the two latest enlargements of the Union. This paper shows the main differences among sets and countries of the number of retail banking institutions, the number of brunches, the number and value of total transactions in real terms and also per capita and in terms of richness during 2006. The analysis underlines the importance of this sector among the Old Members of the European Union, emphasizing the British, the German and the French market in the European retail banking industry.
