    Desde 1861 el Estado liberal promovió la formación de ciudadanos italianos dentro y fuera de sus fronteras. En el extranjero su primer objetivo fue la creación y mantenimiento de escuelas primarias -base del sistema educativo liberal-. Tras la "Ley Crispi" (1889) y la "Ley Tittoni" (1910) la estructura creada amplió su acción cultural subvencionando instituciones italianas o extranjeras que trabajasen en la difusión de la lengua y la cultura italiana. España no seria ajena a este proceso, pero, por las características de la emigración en este país, durante muchos años sus efectos sólo se localizarán en tomo a la comunidad italiana de Barcelona.

    Since 1861 the liberal State promoted the formation of Italia n citizens inside and outside its borders. His first goal was the creation and maintenance of primary schools -basis of the liberal educational system- abroad. Alter promulgating the "Crispi Law" (1889) and "littoni Law" (1910) the created structure extended his cultural action with the subvention to the Italian or foreign institutions that worked in the diffusion of Italian language and culture. Spain also participated in this process, but, by the characteristics of emigration to this country, during many years these effects are only found in the Italian community of Barcelona.
