    Más allá del interés que las películas revelan como punto de encuentro entre un cineasta y un espacio creativo, las obras más significativas de este ciclo esconden numerosas incógnitas sobre su auténtica naturaleza estética, sobre cómo llegan a entroncar con el debate en torno a las fronteras de la ficción y el documental y sobre cómo articulan una serie de elementos iconográficos de orden figurativo que acaban ejerciendo una influencia determinante en algunas piezas de tema marinero que han marcado la historia del cine. Las películas bretonas esconden un interesante misterio en torno a cómo se gestó un modelo fílmico situado en las fronteras entre la ficción y lo documental, en el que los elementos realistas y antropológicos podían derivar hacia los territorios de la ensoñación y del esoterismo.

    If we look beyond the notion of films as the meeting point between director and creative space, we will discover that the major films in this series clue us into their authentic aesthetic nature, to how they reflect the struggle with the borderline between fiction and documentary, and to how they bring out a series of figurative iconographic elements that will play a determining role on the theme of the sea in future films. The Breton films contain a fascinating mystery of how this film form came to be, situated on the border between fiction and documentary, where a realist and anthropological bent would gradually progress toward the oniric and the esoteric.
