A situación actual da lingua galega: unha ollada desde a sociolingüística e a política lingüística

    Presentamos neste traballo unha descrición da situación sociolingüística da lingua galega en Galicia tendo en conta as dimensións diacrónica e sincrónica.

    No tocante á dimensión diacrónica, analizamos, por unha banda, o inicio do proceso de substitución social do galego polo castelán e, por outra, a xeración dunha ideoloxía lingüística favorecedora da recuperación social e cultural da lingua galega. No tocante á dimensión sincrónica contextualizamos o proceso de institucionalización e de política lingüística gobernalmental que se desenvolve en Galicia desde os anos 80 tras as mudanzas políticas que se derivan do cambio de réxime político en España despois da morte de Franco, a aprobación da Constitución de 1978 e a instauración do Estado das autonomías. O marco lingüístico implantado en Galicia e as políticas lingüísticas favorables á revitalización da lingua propia tiveron un determinado impacto na sociedade galega, e a súa análise permítenos avanzar algunhas tendencias de cara ao futuro.

    In this article I present a description of the sociolinguistic study of the Galician language in Galicia that encompasses diachronic and synchronic contexts. Regarding the diachronic dimension, I analyse on the one hand the beginning of the process of social substitution of Galician by Castilian and, on the other, the emergence of a linguistic ideology favourable to the social and culture recuperation of the Galician language.

    Concerning the synchronic dimension, I will contextualise the process of institutionalisation and governmental language policy that has been developed in Galician from the 1980s following the political alterations that came about with the change in the Spanish political system following the death of Franco, the establishment of the constitution in 1978 and the introduction of autonomous government for the historical nations of Spain.

    The linguistic framework established in Galicia and the linguistic policies favourable to the growth of Galician had an impact on Galician society.

    Analysing this impact can help us visualise certain sociolinguistic trends in the future of the language.
