Throughout her career, Professor Betty Collis has developed transformational theoretical and practical applications of technology especially appropriate for and useful in a wide range of educational settings. She has long been a pragmatic theorist who focuses on what will work, especially with respect to whether people will actually employ a particular technological innovation for teaching and learning in both academic and corporate contexts. As a teacher, by drawing on her students' creativity and prior knowledge, she not only has designed innovative courses but she also has empowered and engaged students in ways that enhance their learning experience. As a scholar, she is a prolific author of hundreds of publications and a widely acclaimed speaker at professional conferences. Today, after retiring from academia, she is a well-known consultant who helps educational organizations and corporations to optimize their strategies, improve their learning, and facilitate change.
