Estudio sobre el parafango

    A pesar del importante efecto terapéutico del parafango y de su frecuente utilización en termoterapia, son muy pocos los estudios científicos que se han realizado sobre este peloide. Por ello un grupo de profesores de la Universidad de Valencia con vinculación asistencial e investigadora al Hospital Clínico iniciamos hace tres años una investigación con la recogida de datos que se reflejan en este trabajo. El objetivo de este estudio era establecer una intererrelación cuantitativa entre la pérdida de calor del parafango y la elevación de temperatura que se produce en la piel en un tiempo de tratamiento de 20 minutos. La muestra utilizada han sido 62 pacientes del Servicio de Rehabilitación del Hospital Clínico de Valencia.

    Despite the therapeutical effect of the «parafango» (parafango is a preparation made of mud and paraffin) and frequently used in thermotherapy, there are few scientific studies in which we could see these two: solid and liquid preparation for the purpose of research. For this reason, three years ago a team of university researchers and professionals in this field started to collect data an information to carry this research. This team of researchers conducted their studies in the University Hospital Clínico in Valencia. The purpose of this study is to establish the quantitative interrelation between the loss of heat of the parafango and the increase of temperature on the skin observed during a specific prederterming period of time (20 minutes). Sixty two patients took part in this study. These patients have been treated in the Rehabilitation Unit of the University Hospital Clínico.
