Hoy en día los trailers desempeñan un papel crucial para el funcionamiento de la industria cinematográfica. Pese a su omnipresencia apenas hay trabajos teóricos acerca de la naturaleza de estas pequeñas películas. El propósito de este artículo es el de ubicar los trailers cinematográficos en el espectro de la publicidad y el marketing en general y describir cada uno de los tipos de trailers que podemos encontrar en los espacios publicitarios utilizados hoy para la promoción de películas como los teaser trailers, theatrical trailers, clip trailers o behind the scene trailers entre otros

Nowadays, movie trailers have a crucial role in the film industry. Nevertheless, despite its omnipresence, there is no much theoretical work about these little movies. The aim of this paper is to locate movie trailers in the advertising and marketing world in general and to rigorously describe every type of trailers we can find within the advertising spectrum such as teaser trailers, theatrical trailers, clip trailers or behind the scenes trailers among others.
