    La mitad del siglo XX de la restauración arquitectónica en España está caracterizada por la actuación de un grupo elegido de arquitectos que poseían en exclusiva la autorización para intervenir en el patrimonio existente. Entre éstos, uno de los más significados fue Luis Menéndez-Pidal, a través de cuya obra se refleja la evolución de las filosofías de restauración en España durante los cincuenta años centrales del siglo pasado. Este artículo ofrece un interesante panorama de este arquitecto, desde las claves de su formación hasta la evolución de su pensamiento, ilustrado por sus principales intervenciones en el patrimonio español.

    The architectural restorations of Lis Menéndez Pidal, architect of the Primera zona. The architectural restoration carried out in Spain during half of the 20th century is characterised bu the work of a small group of architects who were exclusively responsible for the refurbishment of the built heritage. One of the most outstanding among them was Luis Menéndez-Pidal, whose work is a compendium of the evolution of restoration philosophies in Spain during the fifty central years of overview of this architect, from his education to his thinking, illustrated by his major interventions on Spanish architectural heritage.
