    El lenguaje, sistema de comunicación simbólica humana, es la base para la creación de conceptos y para la curiosidad humana primigenia por la naturaleza y el pasado. Estos son también los elementos que posibilitan la comunicación y transmisión de pensamientos a otros hombres, con lo cual se inicia la información y la cultura. Por tales motivos, este artículo sostiene que el mundo del lenguaje involucra a toda la comunicación, incluyendo ciencia y literatura. Estas dos últimas, en apariencia tan disímiles, participan de una base común dentro de la historia cultural y social, al recurrir al lenguaje, si bien de manera diferente. Se sostiene que, entonces, pierde sentido establecer una línea de demarcación lingüística entre lo literario y lo científico: arte y ciencia comparten la creatividad y la expresión de un contenido semántico. En cambio, se debería potenciar la idea de que el único modelo válido es el de la simultaneidad y el intercambio. La emergencia, en los últimos años, de una intelectualidad científica que investiga y difunde con solvencia diferentes cuestiones y conecta con el público directamente y con estilo literario, es una prueba de esto.

    Language, the system of human symbolic communication, is the basis for the creation of concepts and for the original human curiosity about nature and past. These are also the elements that make possible communication and transmission of thoughts to other men, which are the beginning of information and culture. This is why this article poses that the world of language involves the whole communication, including science and literature. The two latest, apparently so different, take part at a common basis into social and cultural history, since both use language, though in a different way. The article affirms that it has no sense to draw a linguistic border line between literature and science: art and science share the creativity and the expression of semantic contents. On the contrary, it should be fostered the idea that the only valid model is that of simultaneity and interchange. The emergency, during the last years, of a scientific intellectuality that reliably researches and spreads different issues, and connects with the public in a literary and direct stile, is a proof of this statement.
