  • The role of translation in second language learning, advantages and disadvantages of its usage, has been the subject of many critics for and against it in the past.

    This article establishes a comparative study between the different role played by translation in the teaching of English as "English for specific purposes" and "general English" in order to place it in both syllabuses, differences that appear clearly delimited by the objectives to be achieved in both disciplines.
