Chandler is wrongfully relegated to the list of second-class writers and consequently there are few "serious" articles about him, which is a pity. This article casts á brief look at Chandler's use of Spanish and the people who speak it, which in his novel s and short stories are mostly Mexicans. This opinion changes from being quite favourable at the beginning of his writing career to the rather biased and unfavourable one found in later books, like The Long Goodbye.
