  Como complemento de una encuesta léxica realizada por el autor, que incluye también varios ejemplos de cuentos folklóricos, se analizan los diferentes usos y significados de la frase «tú pitarás» y «pitar», tal y como aparece en autores importantes de la literatura española del siglo xix y en algunos novelistas españoles e hispanoamericanos del siglo XX.

  The author presents a lexical survey, including examples of folktales, and analyzes the different usages and meanings of the phrases «You shall blow the whistle» and «Blowing the whistle» as read in the works of renowned representatives of 19*-century Spanish literature and in those of Spanish and Spanish-American novelists of the 20'^ century.
