  • Resumen
    • Over the years, I have written a number of articles featuring the technology that we physicists use in our investigations into physical phenomena. Now I will turn to a humble and useful instrument, the multimeter. This is used to measure, volts, amps, and ohms! Walk into the electronics workshop of a larger physics department and you will find an all-in-one electrical measuring instrument like the one in Fig. 1. This is a multimeter. In North America, this is usually called a “Simpson meter,” based on a series of similar instruments built by the Simpson Electric Company of Chicago. In England, the equivalent instrument is the “AVO” meter.
