  • Resumen
    • A piezoelectric seismometer based on a piezoelectric bimorph clamped at one end with a seismic mass at the opposite end is presented. Seismometer response is measured on the oscilloscope, and its sensitivity is calculated. Sensitivity calibration is based on a simple inelastic collision of the seismometer base with the body of known mass and velocity. The initial acceleration of the base is calculated from the base velocity and period of damped oscillations. The presented method could be implemented with talented students at the high school level without the need for any advanced calculations of seismometer parameters.
