This article aims to offer a complete and contextualized inventory of the translations of Annie Ernaux’s oeuvre into Spanish, Catalan, Basque and Galician, that is, a concrete topography of the insertion of a foreign author into a literary system where languages and circuits overlap, with Spanish as the common language in competition with the others. This dimension will force us to critically examine which is the most appropriate methodology for approaches of this kind. In short, we can identify three stages in the translation and reception of Ernaux: a first stage (1976-1992) with two books, one in Spanish and one in Catalan; a second stage (1993-2018) in which a substantial part of her books were translated into Spanish, Catalan and Basque, with a certain dispersion and different translators; and a third stage (2019-2025), where her books have mainly appeared in four different publishing houses in Spanish, Catalan, Basque and Galician.
