This article is about a very frequent practice in exchanging messages via WhatsApp: the posting of stickers. Known as fun “cards”, created by anonymous users through a specific application, stickers have gained prominence and relevance in online communication. We start the exposition from the hypothesis that one of the main marks of this form of interaction is the intertextual character, since it requires the user/interlocutor, in most cases, previous knowledge for the figures to be understood. Thus, in addition to characterizing the phenomenon, we aim to show how, many times, it is necessary to catch the dialogue between the different texts that the stickers mobilize to establish the production of meaning, tendency of humorous nature. The analysis, with regard specifically to intertextuality, is based on the theoretical assumptions of Textual Linguistics.
