    El presente texto trata sobre cómo las palabras de los sabios griegos del siglo VI a.C., conocidos como los Siete Sabios, pusieron la cuota de sensatez en un ambiente caótico y de confusión. Precisamente sobre ese caos primordial se tratará al inicio, pues sin su presencia no se podría haber llegado a una claridad tanto cos- mogónica como política. En seguida, veremos el perfil de los siete sabios, por qué son precisamente siete y cómo la antigüedad los ha retratado. La concordia entre ellos y las anécdotas que han llegado hasta nuestros días nos mostrarán por qué no son solo meras palabras las que les dieron autoridad sino sobre todo su forma de ser. Finalmente nos detenemos en las sentencias, su mensaje de prudencia y el interés pr imar io por la amistad (φί λος) y el rechazo a la maldad (κακός). Así pues, cerramos el círculo de los sabios griegos, sus sentencias y el orden frente al caos.

    This text is about how the words of the Greek sages of the 6th century BC, known as the Seven Sages, brought sanity to a chaotic and confused environ- ment. It is precisely this primordial chaos that will be discussed at the beginning, for without their presence, both cosmogonic and political clarity could not have been achieved. We will then look at the profile of the seven sages, why there are seven of them and how they have been portrayed in antiquity. The concord between them and the anecdotes that have survived to the present day will show us why it is not just mere words that gave them authority, but above all their way of being. Finally, we dwell on the sentences, their message of prudence and the primary concern for friendship (φίλος) and the rejection of evil (κακός). Thus, we come full circle to the Greek sages, their sentences and order in the face of chaos.
